Doublechin is a cause of

Weight is one of the most common reasons for extra fat under the lower jaw.

Genetics

If you notice someone with extra fat under the chin, but they look otherwise healthy, it is likely that their family history has contributed to their double-chin.

Age

Your skin's collagen-elastin ratio gets weaker as you age. Your skin's collagen and elastin proteins are responsible for keeping it firm, elastic, and full of life. These proteins are less abundant in your body over time. This causes your skin to sag and the skin beneath your jaw.

Position

Over time, your posture can cause a weakening of the neck and chin muscles. If the muscles aren’t used often, the skin around the neck and chin will lose its elasticity.

It doesn't matter if it's genetics or age.

Double-chin treatments

There are many ways to reduce the appearance of double chins, including:

Face and neck exercises

These exercises are good for your neck and face.

  • All around the world: rotate your head gently to heat up
  • Whistle at ceiling: Turn your head back, and pretend to whistle
  • Kiss the sky: Similar to the previous one, stand with the head back and pucker your lips
  • Ball squeeze: Place a ball under you chin and push it down

These exercises should not be considered alone.

Lifestyle changes

Lifestyle changes such as improving your diet and exercising regularly can improve your overall health, as well as reduce fat around the chin.

You should also incorporate 45 minutes of moderate exercise every day. Include more fruits, vegetables and whole grains in your diet. Reduce your intake of sugar, fried food, and processed foods.
